Esprida technology boosts productivity by 200% at metal processing facilities

Toronto, May 11, 2012 – CETW Industry Awards were issued to Alveni for their implementation of Esprida LiveControl™ and kiosk equipment implemented to increase productivity by over 200% at Deacero, a scrap metal processing plant in Mexico. The industry excellence award is given to the recipient who exemplifies innovation in interactive kiosk solutions. The award highlights the use of kiosk and remote management technology in an industry not usually associated with technological innovation.  Esprida Corporation has been at the forefront of remote endpoint device management for over a decade, managing some of the largest endpoint device deployments in the world.

Deacero implemented a technical solution from Alveni and Esprida that communicates directly with its ERP system and automates the delivery of the payment receipts to each driver who delivers scrap metal in Deacero’s facilities. The self-service solution expedited the customer entry and exit process and enabled each site to serve more customers each day.  Deacero has 15 facilities and serves more than 2000 customers each day.  Each is weighed upon arrival and departure from the facility to determine the amount of metal delivered. Truck drivers now use self-service kiosks, rather than a scale operator, to deliver a printed delivery confirmation and sales receipt.  This process traditionally took 8 to 10 minutes and caused long lines of trucks to spill out onto nearby roads. The new method takes on average between 3 to 5 minutes, increasing the operational efficiency and reducing the processing time by about 50%.
The Esprida platform solution was a vital component of the whole automation project. The uptime and availability of the self-service kiosks was critical to the operations of the entire plant, especially since technical expertise wasn’t available locally. Esprida LiveControl provides management tools to monitor diagnose and resolve problems remotely without hiring additional staff onsite – helping to reduce operating costs, and minimize onsite visits.  All of Deacero’s kiosks are monitored 24/7 through the Esprida LiveControl platform by Alveni’s tech support staff to ensure uptime.
